Am I an Addict?

By simply turning to this page of our website, suggests that you may have answered the above question by yourself, to yourself.

Should you require furrther confirmation, honestly consider the following:

Does your chemical use involve any of the following 'Relational Failings':

  1. Lying
  2. Arguing
  3. Blaming
  4. Stealing
  5. Broken promises

If any one or all of these dynamics play any kind of role in or around your chemical use, then you must agree, you are in trouble.

It could be that an addictive type of denial is already in place, preventing you from seeing these Relational Failings in your life. It could be that you are still in the early stages of an addiction, and as far as you can see, 'there's no real problem'.

So if there's no real problem, you shouldn't identify with any of the following attitudes or behavioural traits, which every addict can identify with. Take the following test:

The Top Ten Tell Tale Tick Test

Can you identify with:

  1. Loss of interest in social activities
  2. Loss of interest in sporting involvement
  3. Loss of interest in work/college/school
  4. When confronted, respond with aggression
  5. When confronted respond with sarcasm
  6. When confronted isolate from friends
  7. At weekend, something always goes wrong
  8. At weekend, you drink quicker than everyone else
  9. At weekend, someone's feelings get hurt
  10. At work, you are preoccupied with the weekend
